Quick & Easy Valentine

Dies aren’t just for cutting! Today’s project is a quick and easy Valentine using a fun technique for the pieces you’d normally throw in the trash when you use your dies.

Made With Love Suite

Love is in the air, and the Made with Love Suite Collection has everything you need to bring it to your crafting! This collection includes heartfelt stamps, coordinating dies, and gorgeous Designer Series Paper. An embossing folder adds textured details for extra charm, and ribbon and loose embellishments provide the perfect finishing touches. Adorable heart-patterned treat bags are food-safe and perfect for packaging sweet surprises.

Quick & Easy Valentine

How It’s Made

  1. First, cut Real Red cardstock to 5 ½” x 8 ½”.  Score at 4 ¼” on the long side and fold for card base.
  2. Next, cut a piece of Made With Love DSP to 4” x 4”, then cut diagonally from top right to bottom left.  Adhere to top and bottom of card front, leaving a 1/8” border on the outside.  This will leave a Real Red strip diagonally across the middle of the card.
  3. Cut a 4” x 4” piece of Basic White, and a 4” x 4” piece of scrap paper or cardstock.  Cut the large heart die from Endless Love Dies in the center of the scrap paper to create a mask.  Layer this over the Basic White and use masking or painter’s tape to secure the two together. (See Pic)
  4. Using your blending brush and a circular motion, add Bubble Bath ink to the Basic White cardstock, starting on your scrap paper and moving into the heart cut out.  I like to keep the center of the heart lighter than the outside for depth.  When you have the color you desire, remove the mask.  Note:  Apply the ink lightly.  It won’t look like you have a lot of color, but it will appear darker when you remove the mask.
  5. Finally, stamp the Happy Valentine’s Day stamp using Real Red ink across the blended heart.  Use your snips to cut out the heart, being careful where the words overlap the edge.  Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  6. Embellish with Pearlized Faceted Circles.
  7. Cut a 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White panel for inside and decorate as desired.

How It’s Made

  1. Cut Garden Green cardstock 5 ½” x 8 ½”.  Score at 4 ¼” on the long side and fold for card base.
  2. Cut two 4” x 5 ¼” panels of Two-Toned Granny Apple Green cardstock.  Stack with one light side up and one dark side up.  Mark at 3 ½” from top on the left side, and 2 ¼” from the top on right side.  Place together in Paper Trimmer and cut diagonally from one mark to the other.  You’ll have four pieces which will make two cards.
  3. Adhere two of these (one light and one dark) to the card front.
  4. Cut DSP 2” x 3 ½” and another pattern ½” x 4 ¼”.  Adhere rectangle to card slightly right of center.  Adhere strip on top near right edge.
  5. Die cut circle using Stylish Shapes Dies.  Stamp sentiment in Garden Green.  Adhere over DSP using Dimensionals.
  6. Fussy cut turtle of your choice from DSP and adhere with glue and Dimensionals to card on left side of circle.
  7. Paint desired areas with Wink of Stella.  I painted the glasses, party hat pompom and ribbon/bow on present.
  8. Embellish with Hexagons.
  9. Cut a white panel 4” x 5 ¼”.  Stamp inside sentiment and decorate with images cut from DSP using coordinating dies.
  10. Don’t forget to decorate your envelope, too!

Season of Elegance Quick & Easy

Season of Elegance Q&E

We made this fun card at a class. It uses the Painted Trees Embossing Folder for the main image. After embossing, we used a dauber to apply Whisper White ink to the trees. But wait, there’s more!

Season of Elegance Card

We also used a fun product called Pearlized Enamel Effects Basics to apply tiny hints of snow. This comes in a set of three bottles (red, black & white) and has a fine tip point so you just squeeze out what you need where you need it.

Season of Elegance Suite Collection

This is an incredibly beautiful collection of products and it’s on the Last Chance list, so if you want it, grab it soon!

Inside

The inside of our card was very simple. We just stamped a sentiment and a few trees at various heights.

Product List

I did use a vintage silver cord. I didn’t realize this had retired. But, I gave you another nice option in the supply list above in case you don’t have this in your stash.
