This Sweet Candy Canes Faux Center Step Card (whew! that’s a mouthful) was one of the projects at October Stamp Club. It was a fun card to make and surprisingly easy!

Glossy Candy Cane

It’s pretty hard to see on the card, but the candy cane is smooth and glossy! Here’s a better picture of one.

Perfectly Penciled DSP

Today we are going to use the Perfectly Penciled DSP (Designer Series Paper) along with a card sketch as our inspiration for a Thank-You card.

Using a Card Sketch

Like all sketches, card sketches act as a starting point for your creativity. You can change the orientation and get creative with the shapes and elements you add to them.

This is the card sketch we’ll be using today.

Perfectly Penciled DSP

This paper features sketched flower designs alongside fabulous backgrounds, such as stripes, dots and other repeating patterns. You may use the papers as they are or add color to them by sponging or spritzing. You can also color in the flowers with any of your coloring tools. For this project I left them as black and white designs.

Our Card

To create our card, I used a piece of Designer Series paper with a small all-over flower design for the background. Next, I added a strip of striped paper horizontally and trimmed the corners. This is added to a standard sized Basic Black card base.

Instead of circles, I used the stitched squares from the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut the mats in the center of the card using Basic Black and Basic White cardstock. A bow of Black Twine was adhered to the back before the mats were added with Dimensionals.

Our Focal Point

I used a section of flowers cut from one of the papers and cut sections of this to layer onto the squares. Some pieces were added with glue and others were raised up with Dimensionals. I also added two butterflies from the paper.

A sentiment from the Nature’s Harvest stamp set was added to the bottom of the center panel. To finish, sprinkle on a few of the black and white Classic Matte dots.

Give it a Go

These papers are beautiful and provide so many creative opportunities. Whether you use these papers, or experiment with a totally different selection of products do give the sketch a go. Just by changing elements and colors you can use the same basic layout yet create totally different looks.

Lights Aglow

Lights Aglow Set

Hello and welcome to this week’s FAB Stampers post. Leonie wrote this post last week, but it’s not been a great week in the Moss house, so I’m posting it today. Leonie used the Lights Aglow Bundle and Designer Series Paper Pack.

Lights Aglow Suite

The Lights Aglow Suite is an awesome collection of products. So awesome in fact that it contains two Stamp & Die Bundles!

For my projects today I’ve only used the Brightest Glow Bundle and Lights Aglow Designer Series Paper.

Lights Aglow Set

These four cards come from one of the sheets from the Lights Aglow Designer Series Paper Pack. I wanted to show you how you can make quick, easy and fun designs from this one sheet of paper.

Lights Aglow DSP

I opted to make two from each sheet for you. You will get 4 sheets of each colour in your pack so you could make quite a few cards like these and be set for Christmas!

4 x 4 Cards

I love making 4×4 cards. They are quick and fun and will fit in a standard sized envelope for mailing.

To make these cards, I cut the card base to 10.5cm x 21cm (4×8 inches) then folded in half. I cut a piece of the Festive Foils in the coordinating colours slightly smaller to give a fine border. The colours used are Cherry Cobbler and Soft Succulent.

Lights Aglow 4x4

After cutting the Designer Series Paper in four pieces, I layered this onto a piece of Distressed Gold Foil. This was adhered to the card base with Dimensionals. The sentiments were stamped on the same colour cardstock as the base then cut with the Stylish Shapes (Square) or Labels Aglow (round) dies.

I stamped in VersaMark and then used Gold Embossing Powder. I finished my cards off with a small Gold Twine Bow and some Festive Pearls.

Gift Tags

As the panels were 3×3 size I figured they’d be the perfect size for Gift Tags. I dont know about you but I never have enough Gift Tags for Christmas gifts. I’ll be able to make oodles of these with this paper pack!

Lights Aglow Tags

I was pretty happy with how these turned out!

To start, I cut a base 3×6 and folded in half. Using a folded tag allows you to pop a little wish inside. Before adhering the frame piece to my card base, I affixed the ribbon with some Tear ‘n Tape. Using Tear ‘n Tape will secure the ribbon and affix the panel piece on top.

I then layered the sentiment piece on top and finished off with a bow and embellishments.

I hope these projects inspire you to use that frame piece of Designer Series Paper.
