Inked Botanicals

Today’s card is perfect for almost any occasion. You could make several of these to stash away for those times when you need a card and just don’t have time to make one! I’m using the Inked Botanicals Suite, which will be retiring soon.

Happy Hedgehogs Split Panel

We made this card at a recent class, and everyone just loved it! This Happy Hedgehogs Split Panel card is so cute, and the fold is easy and fun to make.

How to make this fun fold

This fold is much easier than it looks.

First, take a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 panel and fold it at 4 1/4 on the long side to make your card base.

Next, put the card into your Paper Trimmer and trim 1″ off the card front. Then, cut another 2″ off the card front. This leaves a 1 1/4″ flap at the top of your card. Take that 2″ x 5 1/2″ panel that you just cut and trim it to 2″ x 3 7/8. This will be your “bridge” piece.

Lay your card down with the fold and small flap at the top. Close the small flap. Put adhesive on the back of the bridge piece along one end. Secure to the top flap of the card, centering it between the top and bottom of the card.

Next, line up the 1″ strip with the bottom of your card base. Place adhesive on the back of the bridge along the bottom and close the card which will secure the bridge to the 1″ strip.

You’ve just created a split front card. Now, decorate as desired! Of course, we used the Happy Hedgehog bundle, but you could use whatever you have.

Little Monkey

Today’s project is a cute little jungle scene using the new Little Monkey Bundle and Fresh as a Daisy DSP. Who knew daisy paper would work so well with this cute monkey?

Little Monkey Bundle

This bundle includes both the stamp set and punch. The punch will cut out the monkey and a banana. There are also separate punch areas for the monkey face and inner ears, in case you want to change the colors for those.

Here’s the How-To:

Instructions

Cut Garden Green cardbase 5 ½” x 8 ½”, score at 4 ¼”. Cut Basic White panel 4” x 5 ¼”. Cut Garden green panel 2 ¾” x 4 1/8”. Cut DSP 3 ¾” x 5”.
Use deckled rectangle die to cut center from previously cut Basic White panel. This is a paper saver as you won’t see the hole in the cardstock once it is covered by the DSP.
Adhere Basic White panel (with hole) to Garden Green cardbase. Adhere DSP to Basic White panel (this covers the hole).
Stamp branch in Memento Tuxedo Black and color with Pebbled Path and Granny Apple Green Blends. Stamp greeting in Garden Green.
Use blending brush to lightly add Lemon Lolly ink to area of card where monkey will be adhered. Adhere to Garden Green Panel. Adhere to card with Dimensionals.
Stamp monkey and banana in Memento Tuxedo Black on scrap of Basic White cardstock. Color with Crumb Cake, Copper Clay, Daffodil Delight, and Lemon Lolly Blends. Cut out with Paper Snips and adhere to card with Dimensionals.
Embellish with Adhesive Backed Solid Gems.
