This monochromatic card is made with Summer Splash. It’s such a beautiful color. But in class we also made this card in other 2024-2026 In-Colors. It looks great in any color!

Adding a few scored lines to the front panel using the Simply Scored tool adds so much elegance yet adds zero cost!

Cutest Cows Barn Door Card

Cutest Cows Barn Door Front

Today I’m sharing a card that we made in class months ago. I was excited to see this stamp set carry over into the current 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. It’s so cute and I’ve used it several times, for classes, treats, and swaps. See those projects here and here. I just knew we needed a Cutest Cows Barn Door Card!

Cutest Cows Barn Door Card

I made this card using Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the base (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ on the long side) and the barn doors. Next, I cut a layer of Basic Black (3 1/2″ x 5″).

I made the barn doors but before I adhered them to the black layer, I stamped and punched the cow’s body (Memento Tuxedo Black on Basic White) and colored the spots with Basic Black Blends. Next, I glued it so it would be behind the left door. After adhering the barn doors (see below), I wrapped a length of black & white ribbon around the top of the layer and adhered the layer it to the card base.

Note: the ribbon I used is no longer available, so I’ve substituted the vanilla & white in the supply list below.

Cutest Cows Barn Door Detail

I stamped and punched the cows head and stamped and fussy cut the bell (Memento Tuxedo Black on Basic White), then punched a “collar” from Cherry Cobbler. The cow’s top knot is colored with Basic Black Blends and the snout and ears are colored with Petal Pink Blends. I glued the collar to the back of the cow’s chin and popped the head up over the body with Dimensionals. The Bell is colored with Daffodil Delight Blends and adhered with a Mini Dimensional.

The Sentiment is stamped in Memento on a 1/2″ strip of Basic White and trimmed diagonally with Paper Snips and adhered with glue.

Barn Doors

To make the barn doors, I cut two pieces of Cherry Cobbler (1 1/2″ x 3 1/4″) and four strips (1/2″ x 4″). I ran these through my Stampin Cut & Embossing machine using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.

I took two of the 4″ strips and glued them horizontally across the 1 1/2″ pieces. Pay attention to the direction of these. Next, cut the other two strips in half and glue across the top and bottom. Turn the door over and trim the excess.

The Inside

I stamped the sentiment and flower in Memento and colored the flower with Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight Blends.

Another Option

My friend, Deb, was afraid she couldn’t line up the outline stamp with her flowers, so she left the colored flowers as they were. Isn’t this a beautiful water colored effect?
