Gold Medals!!

If you saw my last post, you know that my husband, Steve, took his mother to bowl in the Senior Olympics in Pittsburgh last week.

Bev and Rose

My Mother-in-law, Bev (90), and her friend, Rose (94), earned Gold medals in the Doubles event. What an amazing achievement!

Artistic Mix Decorative Masks

The Artistic Mix Decorative Masks set includes stencils with stripe and tile patterns that you can place singly or together; you can layer the masks to create advanced designs, such as checkered, Moroccan, and more.

Try creating textured backgrounds with the masks and our Embossing Paste. The masks are versatile enough for crafting all year long and for many occasions and you can pair with your favorite stamp sets for even more versatility.

Layering Leaves in Petal Pink

Layering Leaves in Petal Pink

Today I’m showing you a variation of a card we are making in Stamp Club this month. I had some pretty foil DSP I wanted to use, and I had the stamps out, so I decided to make a card using Layering Leaves in Petal Pink.

Weeds or Wildflowers?

My husband took his 90-year-old mother to Pittsburg, PA to bowl in the Senior Olympics this week. They left a week ago today, and we’d just returned from our camping trip to the Smoky Mountains, so our yard did not get mowed before he left.

I looked out one day and all those tall spindly weeds had bloomed into pretty little yellow wildflowers. Steve always keeps the yard nicely mowed, so they’d never had the chance to bloom before. Steve is on his way home, so I know they’ll be gone by tonight or tomorrow, but they were kinda pretty for a couple of days.

Weeds or Wildflowers?

Layering Leaves in Petal Pink

My card uses the Layering Leaves Stamp Set and the coordinating Bough Punch. You’ll also find step-by-step instructions below.

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock 5 ½” x 8 1/2”.  Score at 4 1/4” and fold for card base.
  2. Cut a panel of Basic White 4”x5 ¼”.  Stamp sprinkles across panel using Petal Pink ink, then emboss panel with Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder.  Attach to card base.
  3. Cut a ½”x4” strip of Brushed Metallic Specialty DSP and attach across white embossed panel.
  4. Stamp greeting in Petal Pink ink on white scrap and cut with Something Fancy die.  Adhere to DSP strip with single Dimensional.
  5. Stamp solid leaves and outline leaves on white scraps with Granny Apple Green ink.  Color outline leaves with filler stamp in Soft Sea Foam and punch with coordinating Bough Punch.
  6. Stamp flowers in Petal Pink on white scrap and punch with Bough Punch.  Attach leaves and flowers to card with glue, tucking them under the sentiment.

Embellish with rhinestones colored with Calypso Coral Blends.

Beautiful Thistle Card Sketch

Beautiful Thistle

Today’s project uses the Beautiful Thistle Bundle and a card sketch.

Let’s Start with the Card Sketch

What is a card sketch? Sketches are a great starting point for your creativity. It’s basically a layout idea. You don’t have to stick rigidly to the layout, you can always change the shapes and orientations on a sketch if that works better for you.

Beautiful Thistle Bundle

The Beautiful Thistle bundle in the January–April Mini Catalog features a great selection of stamps and dies that enable you to create a varied selection of thistles. There are dies to cut out the stamped images and detailed dies to build up thistles using different pieces.

The stamped images are beautiful line drawings that enable you to colour them in a variety of different ways. So, whether water coloring, markers or even pastels are your favorite coloring medium of the moment, you will love these stamps.

Favored Flowers DSP – Today Only!!

This card needed some Designer Series Paper. This Favored Flowers pack is one of the Level 1 Sale-a-bration choices. As well as the beautiful floral designs, there are also some generic-colored prints in this pack, including Blackberry Bliss and Fresh Freesia patterns which are perfect for this project.

Sale-a-bration ends today, so don’t delay if you’d like this Designer Series Paper! It’s free with a $50 order.

Beautiful Thistle Card

This card features a Fresh Freesia card base with a Blackberry Bliss Designer Series Paper mat on top. The larger square is a piece of Fresh Freesia Designer Series paper. The large Thistle has been stamped onto a square of Basic white cardstock. It has been colored with Old Olive and Fresh freesia Stampin’ Blends. A Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blend has been used to add highlights to the thistle at the bottom of the petals and at the base of the thistle where it meets the leaves.

The texture image stamp has been stamped around the edge of the Basic White card in Fresh Freesia ink. A bow of white twine is adhered to the thistle with a glue dot.

The sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink. Thinking of You is such a useful sentiment, whether someone is having a rough time, or you want to send a “just because” card.

Beautiful Thistle Inside

Of course, you can leave the inside of your card blank, but this insert features a simple stamped thistle in Blackberry Bliss ink. You could also repeat this on the envelope.

Beautiful Thistle Inside

Now it’s your turn to have a play with this card sketch. Whether you use this Beautiful Thistle bundle or choose different products from your Stampin’ Up! Collection, have fun with it.
