Nutty Treat Box

I hope you’re all enjoying the lovely fall weather. I like this so much better than the hot summer. But, I do miss all the fresh vegetables from the Farmer’s Market.

Today’s project is a fall treat box. This is another project from this month’s Stamp Club.

Here are the fixin’s:

The box is made using Soft Suede CS and the new Square Pillowbox die from the Holiday Catalog. Cut two pieces with the die (two are required to make the box, but you can get both from a half shet of CS), run one through the Big Shot using the Woodland embossing folder.

Using soft suede ink, add a few leaves from the Among the Branches stamp set (which can be purchased as a bundle with the pillowbox die, saving 15%). Use tear and tape to assemble the box. Wrap linen thread twice around the box and tie with a bow.

Punch a 2″ circle from Very Vanilla CS and stamp with Soft Suede ink and the speckled stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set.

Using the Acorny Thank You bundle, punch an acorn from corrugated paper. Stamp the acorn top in Cajun Craze, punch, and adhere to the acorn. Use a dimensional to attach the acorn to the Very Vanilla circle.

Cut a small strip of Very Vanilla, stamp the Grateful for You in Cajun Craze, cut one end in a banner, and adhere on the circle under the acorn. Use a dimensional to adhere the circle to the box. I tucked it up under the bow.

October Ds Stamping Team USA Giving Thanks

This is my very first blog hop. Thank you, Darla Roberts, for inviting me to participate!

What better subject could there be than Giving Thanks? I have so much to be grateful for, that I couldn’t even begin to count my blessings!

Fall is my very favorite time of year, and I love to watch the leaves turn from green to a rainbow of glorious color! I hope you enjoy my card.

I started with a base of Chocolate Chip. The next layer is Very Vanilla. If you’re wondering which embossing folder I used….surprise! I took the Stampin’ Score and scored every other line with the cardstock horizontal, then turned it, and (on the same side) scored every other line with the cardstock vertical. I used the Vintage Leaves stamp set, stamping the leaves in Chocolate Chip, sponging with a combination of Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive inks, then cutting out with the matching framelits. The greeting is from Lighthearted Leaves, a set that goes with the same framelits! It’s stamped on a 2″ circle, pierced, then matted onto a Chocolate Chip 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle. A double linen thread bow was glued to the stems of the leaves, and a few rhinestones were sprinkled on using the Multipurpose Glue. The leaves and the scallop circle are popped up with dimensionals. Lighthearted Leaves 2.0

I still have the nasty cough, but I’m feeling better today.

Yesterday, I promised to post a “stepped up” version of the Lighthearted Leaves card we made in Stamp Club this month.

One of the products I wanted to use in class was the chalk marker. Just a small touch here and there, can add so much to your project, and it really looks pretty on any color of cardstock (CS).

Unfortunately, one of the two markers I ordered for class was damaged when it arrived. One thing I LOVE about Stampin’ Up! is how dedicated they are to fixing any problems with their products. They sent me a new marker right away, but I didn’t have it in time for class.

With 28 people coming to Stamp Club this month, I wasn’t sure how long the one marker would last, so in class, we only added a little bit of the chalk marker to the leaf we cut out. Here’s the picture from the Stamp Club card (see yesterday’s post for details).

And here’s the stepped up version.

Can you see the difference? I added more detail to the leaves with the chalk marker, and added a black CS layer between the Soft Suede card base and the Crumb Cake panel.
