Friendly Hello Book Fold

This type of fold is so named because the left side of the card has a “spine”. This is made by making an extra score line on the front of the card and sealing that small section to the back of the card, so the card only opens from the score line out.

I used Pool Party and Fresh Freesia cardstock and paper from the Friendly Hello bundle. I notched the top and bottom center of the “spine” using the edge of the Tailored Tag Punch to keep my ribbon in place.

The Details

I stamped the bird with flowers in Shaded Spruce on Basic White and carefully colored with Blends. Next, I cut it out using a die from the Hippo & Friends Die Set. Even if you don’t care for the bundle, these dies are worth getting.

This was layered onto a smooth circle of Fresh Freesia and a scalloped circle of Pool Party using the Layering Circles dies. I added a sprinkling of In-Color jewels to finish it off.

The Inside

I stamped the Basic White Inside with Shaded Spruce and colored carefully with Blends. The reason I say I colored CAREFULLY – Blends are alcohol markers and will smear water-based inks, so I try not to color over the stamped lines.

Daffodil Afternoon DSP

In this simple card, the DSP does all the work!

I simply cut a card base from Pear Pizzazz (5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 on the long side). Next, I cut a layer of Flirty Flamingo (4 x 5 1/4). Before I adhered this to the panel, I cut the scalloped circle from the center. It’s a great way to save paper, and it gets covered up anyway!

I cut the DSP to 3 3/4 x 5 and layered it onto the Flirty Flamingo Panel.

Next, I cut a 1/2 x 5 1/2-inch strip of Pear Pizzazz, embossed it with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder and layered it across the front of the card on top of the DSP.

Details

I stamped the Thank You on Very Vanilla using Memento Tuxedo Black and cut it out with the Hippo & Friends Die. Then, I cut a smooth circle from Pear Pizzazz using the Layering Circles Dies.

These were layered together along with the scalloped circle I cut earlier from the Flirty Flamingo Panel and adhered to the card with Dimensionals.

I stamped and cut the butterfly from the Daffodil Daydreams Stamp Set on Very Vanilla, colored it with Pale Papaya and Flirty Flamingo Blends. See the sparkle? That was added by brushing the butterfly with Wink of Stella.

I carefully folded up the wings on each side of the butterfly’s body, which left me with a small flat space to add glue and attach without gluing down the wings. So, he’s always in flight!

I finished off with Rhinestone Basic Jewels colored with the Flirty Flamingo Blends.

Assembly Line Stamping

I was able to get six panels from one sheet of 12 x 12 DSP, so I made several of these cards at one time. You’d think I’d be stocked up, but no, these have all gone out in the mail, except for one display. I hope you enjoyed these simple cards, and don’t forget Sale-a-bration ends February 28, so get this paper while you can!

Awesome Otters Challenge

I made this card in response to a challenge where we were only allowed to use certain items.

This is the list of items we were allowed for the challenge:

  • One piece of DSP 4 x 5 ¼
  • One Card Base 5 ½ x 8 ½, scored at 4 ¼
  • Two pieces of coordinating Cardstock 1 ¾ x 5 ½, and 2 ¼ x 2 ¼
  • Two pieces of Basic White Cardstock 1 ½ x 5 ½, and 2 x 2

We could alter, but not add any pieces. And we were allowed to use any embellishments.

Awesome Otters

Alterations

I did alter most of my pieces. I cut the DSP into three pieces. Next, I cut both the Basic White and Misty Moonlight strips in half lengthwise, so I could spread them out a little and also cut them with the Scalloped Contours border die. I used the 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 square of Misty Moonlight to cut a circle, and then cut the piece for the greeting from INSIDE that circle. Additionally, I used the Hippo & Friends dies to cut my Basic White 2 x 2 square, stamped the otter with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Blends.

Details

I colored the cute little otter with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede blends, and the water with Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight Blends.

I embossed the greeting on the piece cut from the center of my circle. As you can see, I need to order new embossing powder, as mine is pretty old and didn’t work as well as I would have liked.

Last, I embellished with the water drops from the Silver and Clear Epoxy Essentials.
