An Oldie Meets A Freebie

Today, I’m using the Daisy Lane Stamp Set, which has been around for a couple of years, and the new Beautifully Penned DSP (Designer Series Paper) from the Sale-a-bration Brochure. This paper is FREE with any $50 purchase during the months of August and September.

Inspiration

This card is inspired by one of my team members, Gay. She showed us how to make a similar card during a team meeting. It was so much fun I thought it would be a good choice for today’s card.

How To Make It

First, I cut a black panel 3 3/4″ x 5″. Using the Tasteful Labels Dies, I cut the larger stitched circle in white. This is the circle with the Smile greeting stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used the Layering Circles Dies to cut a black circle to layer behind this. I also cut a white circle smaller than the black circle. The size isn’t important as long as it’s smaller than the black circle. This is where you will attach the points of your paper wedges.

On the black panel, I glued the smaller white circle hanging off the edge and centered on the long side. I cut 8 strips of DSP 1 1/2″ x 4″. Then cut those pieces diagonally from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. I started in the top center of the black panel (opposite the white circle) and glued one of the wedges to the card. The tip will be on the white circle and the wide end will hang off the black panel. Continue adhering the wedges to your panel, alternating patterns and leaving a small amount of black showing between the wedges.

When you’re finished, you’ll flip the panel over and trim all the overhanging pieces of DSP in line with the black panel. Adhere your white and black circle with the greeting over the circle where you glued all the wedge points and trim it, too.

This panel is adhered to a slightly larger 4″ x 5 1/4″ black panel, then adhered to a white 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card base, folded in half to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

The Details

I tied a small piece of Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon in a half knot and attached it with a mini glue dot. I finished it off with the Matte Black Dots.

The Inside

I finished the inside of the card by using a couple of the extra wedges across the bottom. Then, I added a greeting cut from another of the Tasteful Labels Dies adhered with dimensionals over a piece of the Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon.

Greek Isles Swap

On the Incentive Trip each year, Stampin’ Up! organizes a demonstrator swap.  We each take 26 identical cards.  Stampin’ Up! keeps one and posts it on a Swap Board so we get to see everyone’s creations.  The other 25 get sorted randomly so that we get 25 different cards back!

This was my swap card for the Greek Isles trip, using the Daisy Lane stamp set and the larger Daisy punch.  I love those fuzzy flower centers!  And, although you probably can’t see it, the Early Espresso panel is embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder.

I hope you like it!
