Snowflake Wishes Winter Blues

I’m using Snowflake Wishes for this week’s Winter Blues themed Blog Hop. For my friends in Australia, this is the Winter season. And, if you live in the USA, you may be wishing for a little cool weather right now.

Slimline Card

I used the Snowflake Wishes Stamp Set and So Many Snowflakes Dies to create this Winter Blue slimline card. If you’ve never made a slimline card, you should try it. I started with a 7” x 8 1/2” piece of Balmy Blue cardstock, and scored the 7” side in half at 3 1/2”. That’s it! So simple, and it will fit in a regular business envelope.

Greeting Element

Using the label die in this set, I cut an opening in the left side of my Night of Navy panel, and stamped my greeting in Night of Navy directly on the card base under the cutout. I added a couple of small snowflakes in Balmy Blue as the cutout space looked a little empty. The navy panel was embossed with the Tasteful Texture 3D Embossing Folder. Black dimensionals raise the navy panel to allow depth for the cutout and are less noticeable than using white ones.

Stamped Panel

I took a 3” x 3” square of Basic White cardstock and stamped three medium snowflakes in Night of Navy. I filled in the empty spaces with smaller snowflakes stamped in Balmy Blue. Using my blending brush, I added Balmy Blue ink to the larger snowflakes. It tends to pick up a tiny amount of the navy, which I quite like. Then I cut the panel into 1” strips and used the same blending brush and Balmy Blue around the edges of each strip to give it more depth.

Inside

For the inside, I simply stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy . Then, added a few Balmy Blue snowflakes to fill some of the empty space.
