Including a FREE Tutorial on using Stampin’ Write Markers with your stamps.
Today’s Seascape Underwater Window card was made to showcase techniques using the Stampin’ Write Markers with your stamps.
The Right Markers
Stampin’ Up! offers two types of markers. The Stampin’ Write Markers can be used to ink your stamps, and that’s what I’ll be using today.
DON’T try this with the Stampin’ Blends as they will NOT work for this technique and you’ll just end up staining your stamps.
The Stampin’ Write Markers are great for inking your stamps, coloring images, and filling in those little spots where you don’t get a perfect image. They come in all the Stampin’ Up! ink colors, too!
Inspiration for the Seascape Underwater Window
As a demonstrator, I participate in several groups. In one of the groups, I was tasked to write a tutorial on Inking with Markers. Instead of just doing bits and pieces, I thought I’d create a project using these techniques. If you look closely, you’ll see that the fish and seaweed have different colors of shading, and the Thank You has an ombré look, going from light to dark.
If you’d like to see exactly how this is accomplished, be sure to check out the FREE Tutorial below.
The Details
I used two circle dies to cut the window frame from the In Good Taste DSP. If you haven’t seen this paper, it has the most beautiful background patterns, including wood, tile, brick, paint, etc. Just a tip: This DSP also makes a great background for photographing your cards.
The “wood porthole” was adhered to the Window Sheet circle using glue dots, and then adhered over the circle that I had colored and stamped. The entire thing was popped up with Dimensionals and I added Gilded Gems to represent the screws on the porthole.
I wrapped Linen Thread around the sentiment strip several times and adhered it on the back.
The Inside
I added more seaweed and little fishes to the sentiment on the inside panel.
