Pickled Mummy!

Now that summer is coming to an end, and the nights are getting cooler, it’s time to start getting ready for the holidays.  First up…..Halloween!

We made this card at September Stamp Club, and my friend, Linda, called it Pickled Mummy.  I thought that was a pretty good name for this card.

The background was made using the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set, and we added a touch of gray watercolor along the edges of the bandage strips.

Stamping with Dad

This is my dad.  He has a workshop behind our house, where he makes birdhouses, bow makers, heat tool holders, and holders for Dazzling Details.  He’s always asking what I’m doing and watching me get ready for classes.

He came into my studio a couple of weeks ago, and asked me if I had a birthday card he could send to his sister.  Do I have a card?  I have a hundred cards, but where’s the fun in that?

So, we sat down to make a card.  I made one along with him, so he could see how to do each step.  Originally, the greeting was supposed to be on the right, but he had a little trouble with that, so we covered it up with the balloons and he re-stamped the greeting on the left.

Then he got his hand in the black ink pad and smudged his card.  We covered the smudge with the yellow balloon that looks like it’s floating off the top of the card.  It just proves that THERE ARE NO MISTAKES, ONLY OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREATIVITY!!

Oh, and by the way, my dad is 92.

Didn’t he do a great job?  Way to go, Dad!

Thanks for stopping by today.  If you need a demonstrator, I’m happy to help!

Painter’s Palette

Another of my favorite stamp sets from the Annual Catalog is Painter’s Palette.  I think this easel stamp could be used with almost any greeting.  I am always drawn to flowers and butterflies, and sometimes struggle to find more masculine images.  I think this could easily be used to make a “guy card”.
