Mountain Air Desert Scene

It’s time for another Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop, and today’s subject is Horizons. I decided to do something a little different for me and make a desert scene using the Moutain Air Stamp Set.

Mountain Air Meets Cactus Cuties

There are so many gorgeous projects floating around these days with the New Horizons Designer Series Paper. If you haven’t seen it, be sure to check it out here. But I wanted to do something different for my horizon. So, I decided to use the Mountain Air Stamp Set and Cactus Cuties Bundle to create my scene.

I’ll be honest, I’m a Kentucky girl, so I’m used to hills and hollows, woods and pastures. I’m really not that familiar with the desert, but I do have several friends who live in the southwestern US, and I’ve been fortunate to visit them and see their beautiful part of the country.

Mountain Air Desert Lead

How It’s Made

I started with a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock and masked the upper portion with a piece of scrap paper. I used Crumb Cake, Bumblebee, and a little Cajun Craze Ink with the blending brushes to create my desert floor.

Next, I tore another mask and placed the rough edge just below my top mask and used Soft Suede Ink to add the darker line along the bottom of the mountains.

Did you know the Mountain Air Stamp Set is reversible?! I stamped the mountains with the detail using Cajun Craze ink, and then stamped them again with the back of the stamp in Bumblebee to get the mountains in the distance. Next, I used the blending brush to add Bumblebee ink to my Cajun Craze mountains.

I used Crushed Curry ink with a dauber and a scrap of paper with a punched circle to make the sun, then carefully added just a touch of Cajun Craze to the sky with my Blending Brush.

Cactus Cuties Bundle

I thought I’d add a cactus to my scene and the Cactus Cuties Bundle was perfect for that. I stamped the cactus image in Old Olive on my scene, then stamped and punched cactus pieces and adhered them with Mini Dimensionals OVER the image on the scene. Another plant in Garden Green is just peeking into the frame.

Lastly, I stamped the birds in Soft Suede and used a stamp from another set for the speckled sand.

Details

I used a piece of Garden Green cardstock and cut a Stitched Rectangle from the center to make my frame. This is adhered to my scene with Mini Dimensionals, leaving space to tie a Linen Thread bow. Then, this is adhered to a Cajun Craze cardbase.

Finally, although it’s hard to see, I added Wink of Stella to the sun and sand.
