Ringed With Nature Hybrid Embossing Folder

We all know what an embossing folder is: a way to add touchable texture to a stamping project. But what is a hybrid embossing folder? Hybrid embossing is a step up from using an embossing folder. Let’s look at the latest Stampin’ Up! Hybrid Embossing Folder, the Ringed with Nature Hybrid Embossing Folder.

Ringed With Nature Bundle

The Ringed with Nature stamp set is one of those multi options sets. In other words: it’s great for a variety of seasons and occasions. It has a lot of images for all four seasons and the sentiments also work for many cards. The stamp set and the Hybrid Embossing folder come as a bundle (save 10% when you purchase the bundle) and you CAN buy them separately.

Here’s how the Ringed with Nature Hybrid Embossing Folder works:

Cut and Emboss at one Time

It contains an embossing folder and dies to use with it. The dies fit into the embossing images in the folder so that you can run it thru the Stampin‘ Cut & Emboss machine and emboss the texture while you cut the image.

Emboss Only or Cut Only

You can use the embossing folder WITHOUT the dies and get an embossed look only. The dies may also be used WITHOUT the embossing folder to cut out separate elements for your project. See examples of both of these on this card.

You can also stamp, cut, and layer pieces of the rings with outer bark design and inner wood design to show a slice of tree. Of course, you’re not REALLY cutting bark and wood, just paper representations of them! But they look very realistic.

There are additional dies to cut an acorn, berries, small wood branches (logs?), leaves, and the split centers of wood.

Special Tip

TIP: I laid the individual rings dies on the embossing folder and then labeled the embossing folder and the rings from 1-5 (top to bottom) with a permanent marker so that when I want to cut and emboss single images I can place the die quickly in the proper place.

Card Instructions

Cut a 5-1/2” X 8-1/2” card base from Crumb Cake cardstock. Fold and burnish for a horizontal card base.
Cut a 3-3/4” X 5” piece of Basic White cardstock
Cut a 1-3/8” X 5 piece of the Rings of Love DSP. I used the paper with the pattern leaves, flowers, and butterflies.
Cut and emboss one of the rings with border from Crumb Cake cardstock
Stamp “Just for You” on a small piece of Basic White using Soft Suede ink.
Cut and emboss the Basic White piece using the single ring die that fits around your stamped image to cut the ring that matches the outer ring previously cut and embossed.
Stamp the mushroom stems approximately ¾” from the bottom edge of the Basic White cardstock using Early Espresso and the mushroom tops using Poppy Parade ink.
Adhere the strip of DSP to the lower edge.
Tie a piece of the Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim around the front of the card with a knot toward the left side.
Adhere the white assembled piece to center of the front of the card.

Let’s Set Sail Simple Easel

It’s another Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop and today’s hop is all about Heat Embossing. I used the Let’s Set Sail bundle to make my project.

Let’s Set Sail

The Let’s Set Sail Bundle comes with the stamp set and coordinating Sailboat Builder Punch. The punch cuts out the sailboat and sails. It’s such a darling bundle and the punch makes it so easy to create the cute little sailboat.

Embossing the Sea

You may be wondering what I’ve embossed on this card. Actually, this is an idea I’ve had in the back of my mind for some time. My original idea was to use the Birch stamp to emboss on some of our DSP (Designer Series Paper) that didn’t have foiling to add a little pizzazz. And I still plan to try that!

But for this project, I masked off the top of a Basic White panel and used our Blending Brushes to add Balmy Blue to the panel. I then added Misty Moonlight along the bottom of the panel.

Next, I took the Birch stamp and used it to stamp with VersaMark over the still masked panel. I removed the mask and embossed with silver embossing powder. This panel was then cut using a die from the Scalloped Contours Die set.

Putting it all together

This panel was added to a slightly larger Real Red panel, and then adhered with Dimensionals to a Misty Moonlight panel that has White Faux Linen ribbon across one corner. Next, the Misty Moonlight layer was adhered to a panel the same size as my card front.

Simple Easel

It’s so easy to make a simple easel card! For this one, I simply scored the front of my Balmy Blue card base horizontally across the center, then adhered the layered panel (same size as my card front) ONLY to the bottom half of the card front. When you open and fold on the scored line, the card will become an easel.

The Basic White card “stop” (the piece that holds the card open) was stamped with Misty Moonlight and cut with the smallest die from the Scalloped Contours Die set. It was attached with Dimensionals to the card base, and birds were added with Misty Moonlight ink.

Details

Before assembling the card, I stamped and punched the sailboat using Soft Suede and Real Red inks on Basic White, stamped the shadow under the boat with Balmy Blue, and added Misty Moonlight birds. The boat is glued to the card, and the sails are attached with Dimensionals for depth.

Finally, I added silver epoxy dots from the Silver and Clear Epoxy Essentials embellishment pack.

Halloween Duo with Cutest Halloween and Clever Cats

It’s time for another Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop, and today we’re focusing on Halloween! I’m giving you a “twofer” today with a Halloween Duo.

Cutest Halloween Peekaboo

I used the Cutest Halloween bundle to make this Hey Boo! Peekaboo card. I cut all those circles with a single pass through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine using the circles die from the Picture This Dies Set.

I cut the circles from a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock. Laying this piece onto a white panel, I marked where the holes were with pencil, so I’d know exactly where to stamp.. When I finished stamping, I erased the pencil marks. I used the Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write markers to color the candy corn.

I embossed the Grape panel with the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder, then popped this panel over the stamped panel using Dimensionals. Next, I layered this onto Basic Black CS, then onto a Granny Apple Green card base. Finally, I stamped and punched the ghost from a Basic White scrap and added it with Dimensionals.

Details:

I cut a small tag using the Tailored Tags Dies set and a scrap of Basic White cardstock. Then, I used a small piece of Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon to tie onto the hole in the tag. Finally, the tag is placed on the card with Dimensionals.

The Best Part!!

Remember all those circles I cut out of my Hey Boo card? They are used in this Clever Cats card!

I saved the largest circle for the greeting. I adhered the rest of the circles randomly around the edges of a black 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ panel. Then, I flipped the panel over and cut off any excess, as I had the circles glued beyond the edges. I stamped bats on a couple of the smaller circles.

The black panel was adhered to a Granny Apple Green panel. BUT, BEFORE I did this, I cut the scalloped circle from the Granny Apple Green panel in the area that would be covered by the black panel. This is a great way to save cardstock!

I cut a piece of paper from the Pattern Party Host DSP pack to adhere below the black panel and a piece of Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon was placed across the “seam” where these pieces meet. This was mounted onto a Gorgeous Grape card base.

Details:

I stamped the cat on a white circle with Memento Tuxedo Black, and colored the eyes with the Granny Apple Green Blends.

The broom is stamped with Smoky Slate on a Basic White scrap, and then fussy cut. I used a craft knife to cut slits on either side of the tail, slipped the broom handle through, and glued it to the circle. Then, I mounted it onto the Granny Apple Green scalloped circle and adhered with Dimensionals.

Using the largest Gorgeous Grape circle, I stamped the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered with Dimensionals to finish the card.
