Colorful Seasons

I was inspired by several cards on Pinterest that used this set, and all are a little different.

Masking and spongeing is probably my favorite technique.  We made this card in Stamp Club this month, and I was asked to post the instructions for the sunset online, so I have a quick tutorial for you today.

Stamps:  Colorful Seasons

Cardstock:  Marina Mist, Whisper White

Ink:  Early Espresso, Powder Pink, Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Pumpkin Pie, Marina Mist

Dies:  Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies

Other:  Clear Wink of Stella

Here’s how to make the sunset.  We made ours on a 3″ square of whisper white (just a little bigger than our window, so it would fit behind nicely).  You’ll need three pieces of scrap paper for masks.  One with a straight edge, one with a circle hole, and the circle you punched from the previous mask.

Use a mask to cover the sky portion of the square.  Apply Pool Party ink with a sponge and horizontal motion to color water.

Remove mask from sky and cover the water with the mask.  Add the mask with the circle punched out. Lay it across the first mask to get the sun sized to your liking.  Sponge hole with Pumpkin Pie ink.

Remove mask with hole, keeping water covered, and cover sun with the circle that was punched out. Sponge sky with Marina Mist.

Remove all masks.

Gently add a little Pumpkin Pie to the water beneath the sun to create a “reflection”, and a little around the sun in the sky to add a “glow”.

It’s really quite easy!  Give it a try and let me know how yours turns out.

Cable Knit Sweater Card

How cute is this sweater card designed by Sue Parker!?  I’m lucky to call Sue a friend, and you can see her cute card here.  She even has a tutorial with instructions, if you’d like to re-create the card.

We made this card in last month’s Stamp Club class.  The star of this show is the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  This embossing folder is a new design that gives a much deeper embossing, almost a 3-D effect.  And, can you believe it?  No stamps or ink on this card!
