Incentive Trip Gift From a Good Friend

I recently was blessed to earn enough points for the 2020 Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip to Maui.  Of course, it would NOT have been possible without all of my customers and team members.

One of my good friends, AJ, gave me a beautiful box card to commemorate the five Incentive Trips I’ve earned….. the Western Mediterranean Cruise, Thailand, Alaska Cruise, Greek Isles Cruise, and next year’s Maui.  This is one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received, and she made it herself!!

And, here’s the back of this very special card.

What a wonderful gift.  I love it!!

Memorial Day 2019

Taking a moment to remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms.  I appreciate them and the freedoms I enjoy because of them.

Early Warning System

Those of you who’ve been to my studio know that I don’t have or need a doorbell.  These two warn me if anyone is coming.  They greet everyone at the door and sound vicious.  Once I open the door, they immediately calm down.

Some of my stamping friends bring treats, so they are extra excited when their “aunties” show up.  Janet has been known to stop by McDonalds and get them a hamburger with no bun, LaAnna brings them toys, and Pat makes home baked treats for them!    How rotten is that?!

Jennie Boo is pictured on the left, and Spanky Doodle is on the right.  Don’t those names make you smile?  They were actually named at the rescue where we adopted them, so I can’t take credit for their cute names, but they are named well.  Jennie is calm and loveable and Spanky is busy, busy, busy.

I found Spanky Doodle online at a rescue in Indiana.  We adopted him and about three weeks later, we got a call from the rescue asking if we were interested in adopting a second dog.  I asked why, and was told that Spanky had a girlfriend when he was at the rescue.  After we adopted Spanky, Jennie wouldn’t play or eat and was listless and depressed.  Then, she got attacked by a boxer and they didn’t know if she would make it.  I told them if she lived, we would take her.

When we first got her she was so timid she wouldn’t come out of her crate for anything.  I had to pull her out to put her outside, and she was so scared that she would “wet” all over me.  Gradually (with Spanky’s help) we gained her trust.  But, if anyone came over she would hide in the corner behind the furniture.

She’s come a LONG way.  She now greets people at the door and sits on everyone’s lap.  She even noses Spanky out of the way to get her share of attention.

I can’t imagine life without these two, and as Triva at the rescue told us, they really are “two peas in a pod” even though they have such opposite temperaments.

If you have room in your life for a pet, there are so many that need good homes.  I hope you’ll consider a rescue pup of your own.

My Newest Stamper

At CAM class this month, two young ladies joined us for some stamping fun.  My friend, Anne, brought her daughter Peyton to the Saturday class, but unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures.  🙁

On Sunday, LaAnna brought her granddaughter, Tia.  She did a great job!  She was careful, followed directions very well, and didn’t “squash” my ink pads!

Tia mastered the Simply Scored board without any problems.  In fact, LaAnna said that some of Tia’s cards turned out better than hers.

I normally only allow adults in my classes, but these young ladies both did so well, I may have to re-think that!

Thanks for visiting today!  I’ll be back with more great projects!

Mother of All Things

While we were in Savannah, we ran across a gift shop that sells T-shirts (imagine that!  LOL).  Anyway, we decided to buy some for Steve’s family.

We gave them out at Easter.  All of Steve’s family was there, with the exception of his brother, Ray.  We got a picture with all of them in their shirts.  Ray would have been in the headless number 3 shirt.

From left to right….. Pam, Debbie, headless Ray, Patty, and Steve.  Bev (mom) is in the front.  We thought it turned out really cute, and can’t wait to get a picture with Ray included!  Hopefully, sometime this summer.

Thanks for stopping by!

Savannah – Take 2

I have a few more photos from our visit to Savannah, Georgia.  One of the famous houses in Savannah is the Mercer House.  You might recognize it if  you’ve read the book “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”.

There are so many beautiful streets in Savannah.  This is just one of those streets with a canopy of Live Oaks.

The Olde Pink House was probably our favorite place for dining, although we didn’t have time to experience too many great restaurants.  I had their shrimp and grits for lunch, and they were amazing!!  If I remember correctly (I really need to take notes), the lovely lady who waited on us told us that they had won several awards for their shrimp and grits, and I can definitely see why.  It was the best I’ve ever had!!

After lunch, we took a drive out to Tybee Island, and stopped at the lighthouse for a quick photo.

I’m so glad we took a few extra days to visit this beautiful, southern city!  If you haven’t had a chance to see Savannah, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for visiting today.

Trip to Savannah

Stampin’ Up! recently held an event called OnStage.  This has taken the place of the annual Convention in Salt Lake City.  They offer OnStage twice a year, in April and November.  There’s a “Live” event, which can be held in any of the countries that Stampin’ Up! serves, and “Local” events in the other countries.  April’s “Live” event was held in Amsterdam.  I had a couple of local events that weren’t too far away (Richmond and Savannah), and since I’d never been to Savannah, we decided to take a few days to visit there.

Savannah has a great trolley system.  You pay one price for the day, and you can hop on and off at 15 different stops.  While you’re on the trolley, you also get to hear about the city from the driver, who is also a tour guide.  For some reason, the guy behind us seemed to want to be in our picture.  LOL  We took three and he was in all of them.

The Pirates’ House is a historic restaurant and tavern established in 1753.  It is thought to be the oldest standing building in the state of Georgia.

Of course we had to eat there!  It was a great southern buffet.  It’s supposedly one of the most haunted places in Savannah (which seems to have a LOT of haunted places) so they tell you to look carefully at your photos, as sometimes there are unexpected results.  Do you see any spirits?

I’ll show you a little more from our trip in tomorrow’s post!

Thanks for stopping by.

Good Help!

Do you remember the Beatles song “With A Little Help From My Friends”?  Well, I get by with a little help from my friend, Jessica!

My monthly Cards & More class can have up to 18 people.  They each make nine cards (3 each of 3 designs) plus a bonus project.  That’s 180 (ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY!) projects to be cut and prepped.  There’s NO way I could cut all that paper by myself.

Not only does Jessica cut an incredible amount of paper, but she also helps keep me on track, giving me deadlines to have my samples made and ready to go.  And, believe me, I need that push!

THANK YOU, JESSICA, FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!!

Veterans Day 2016

Today is Veterans Day, and I just want to say THANK YOU to all of our Veterans.  I thank you for the freedoms that I enjoy, and I appreciate the sacrifices made to preserve those freedoms.

This is a picture of my husband (Steve) and his brother (Ray) on our wedding day.  I won’t say just how old this picture is, but you can probably tell it was taken before the digital age.

This is a picture of my brother-in-law (Russ, husband of Steve’s sister Debbie), my father-in-law (Jim) who is no longer with us, my husband (Steve) and his brother (Ray).  This picture was taken at Debbie and Russ’ wedding, a year after ours.

Gotta love a man in uniform!

I hope you pause for a moment in your day to remember all of our veterans.  And, if you happen to see one, thank them for their service.  I can tell you, it means a lot to them!
